Cameroonian journalist Afeseh Apong reportedly has hinted that the 2016/17 Cameroon Elite One champion Eding Sport have been allowed to represent the country following a meeting between the Normalisation Committee of the Football Association and the Cup finalists.
Apparently, Lion Blessé and Eding Sport were supposed to meet for the slot.
Cameroon government gave the two clubs 10 million Franc each to prepare for the Cup final, however it is likely the match will be cancelled.
“Eding Sport will be playing the Confederations Cup as the game isn’t likely to be played. Lion Blesse may not have enough qualified personnel," Afeseh Apong told Kumasi-based Metro FM.
“Eding Sport will be much ready because they meet all the needed requirements. Cameroon do not have a definite calendar that’s why we struggling to produce a representative for the Kotoko game and it’s because CAF changed it’s calendar this year.”
“We won’t redraw from CAF inter-club competitions because Eding sport is not the only Cameroonian club representing Cameroon. We have two Champions League reps and two reps in the Confederations Cup which one is already known and the other which has just been allowed," he ended.
The Ghanaian giants will host the Lékié-based side in the 1st leg on Wednesday, November 28 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi with the reverse fixture in Cameroon in a week's time.
