Ghana have clinched the 2017 WAFU Cup after whitewashing their arch-rivals in the grand finale on Sunday evening.

The home-based senior national team of Ghana recorded a 4-1 victory over Nigeria at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The Super Eagles started the match on a good note but they failed to find the back of the net as they wasted most of their chances created in the first department of the game.

Ali Rabiu nearly snatched the opener for the Nigerians but his 35-yard shot was block by Vincent Atingah.

Hearts of Oak attacker Kwame Kizito and Stephen Sarfo kept on mounting pressure on the backline of the Nigerians to grab the lead before recess.

A 44th minute beautiful strike from Stephen Sarfo ended the first half in a 1-0 victory in a favor of the Black Stars 'B'.

Back from the break, Coach Maxwell Konadu continued to pile much pressure on the Eagles to extend the lead in the mid of the game.

The Black Stars 'B' were handed a penalty kick after Hearts of Oak enforcer Patrick Razak was fouled in the 18-yard box by the Nigerian defenders.

Vincent Atingah struck the ball firmly into the back of the net for the Stars in the 58th minute of the game.

Patrick Razak was brought down again in the box by the Nigerian backline where Stephen Sarfo converted it neatly for Ghana in the 77th minute of the match.

Midfield dynamo Winful Cobbinah completed the Stars victory with another goal in the 93rd minute before Ali Rabiu pulled one back with a stunning free-kick in the 95th minute.

Ghana finished the game with ten men after goalscorer Vincent Atingah was marched off the pitch after picking two yellow cards.
