Danish coach John Christensen takes over AshantiGold coaching job

The Danish trainer has been named as the interim coach for the Obuasi-based club.
AhantiGold has appointed Coach John Christensen to take over club's coaching role until further notice.
The expatriate gaffer was asked to take charge of the first team technical duties until further notice after Head coach CK Akunnor was sacked.
Coach Christensen holds a UEFA License 'A' coaching certificate.
Until his new appointment, John Christensen was the technical director of Obuasi AshantiGold SC.
"Ashantigold SC has today disengaged with the services of its Head Coach Mr. C. K. Akonnor," the club statement reads.
Whilst there is a huge sentiment for Mr. Akonnor, who has done so much for the club both as a player and coach, the decision was taken in the best interest of Ashgold.
"Management would like to place on record Mr. Akonnor’s tremendous contribution to the club in the last one year, and as such, would like to thank him and wish him well in his future endeavors."
"The Technical Director Mr. John Christensen will take charge of the first team technical duties until further notice."
"Management would like to assure Ashgold fans of its fullest commitment to the well being and success of the club."
