Yusif Abubakar and C.K. Akonnor to battle it out for Kotoko coaching job

Kickgh.com can confirm that the vacant Asante Kotoko coaching job will be a toss between ex- Ashanti Gold gaffer C.K Akonnor and former Aduana stars coach Yusif Abubakar.

Reports in the local media have suggested that the club will not be appointing an expatriate Coach to manage the club following the blip resignation of Paa Kwesi Fabin last Thursday.

However, according to a close source within the Porcupines have disclosed that the club will search within to hire a local coach as they aim to continue their scintillating form.

Kickgh.com can indicate that C.K. Akonnor and Yusif Abubakar are the two indigenous coaches set for the vacant position.

It is believed that the Kotoko management will tie-up their next coach for a long time; minimum of three years.

Yusuf Abubakar won the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League title with Aduana Stars.

Abubakar also guided the Dormaa boys to their historic group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup before he was sacked.

C.K Akonnor brought Dreams FC back to the topflight after just a season at the lower division.

He orchestrated the newly formed Ashanti Gold during his reign with the miners after helping the club to escape relegation in his debut season as well as leading them to second spot on the Ghana Premier League table last season.
