MATCH REPORT: Ethiopia 0-2 Ghana - Jordan Ayew's brace keeps Ghana's AFCON 2019 qualification hopes alive

The Black Stars of Ghana have returned to winning ways in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign following an away win over Ethiopia on Sunday afternoon.
 
Ghana inflicted a 2-0 home defeat on the Walis of Ethiopia in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier clash at the Addis Ababa Sports Stadium.
 
Coach Kwesi Appiah's charges dominated the first department of the match as they ended it in a 2-0 lead through Jordan Ayew.
 
Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew fetched the opener for the West African country with a cool finish on the third minute of the game.
 
On the 18th minute, goalkeeper Richard Ofori made a brilliant save to deny the Ethiopians from levelling the score.
 
Ghana extended the lead from the spot after Emmanuel Boateng was fouled in the 18-yard box by Ethiopians goalie Abel Mamo.
 
Jordan Ayew struck the ball firmly into the back of the net to register his second goal of the day from the spot on the 24th minute of the game.
 
After the recess, the senior national team of Ethiopia gained possession to dominate the match but failed to find the back of the net.
 
A cross from Abdulkerim Mohammed on the 58th minute was fisted out by Ofori as the homesters continued to pile pressure on the Black Stars.
 
Coach Appiah made a quick change as he replaced Thomas Partey with Afriyie Acquah to hold the Ethiopians trio in midfield.
 
Also, Christian Atsu was substituted by Nana Opoku Ampomah before Columbus Crew defender Johnathan Mensah replaced two-goal hero Jordan Ayew.
 
With few minutes to end the match Minyelu Wendimu Omod Okuri and Addis Gidey tried to grab a consolation goal but their strikes went wide.
 
Goalkeeper Richard Ofori made a brilliant save to keep a clean sheet after fisting out an audacious strike from Addis Gidey on the 93rd minute.
