MATCH REPORT: Elmina Sharks beat Hearts of Oak on penalties to clinch Bakatue Cup

Elmina Sharks whipped Accra Hearts of Oak 4-2 on penalties to clinch the maiden edition of the Bakatue Festival Cup.
 
Hearts of Oak held the Sharks boys to a 1-1 draw at the Papa Kwesi Nduom Stadium in Elmina on Sunday afternoon.
 
Both teams started the match on a good note but failed to utilize their chances as the first department ended in a scoreless stalemate.
 
Richard Mpong could have opened the score for Elmina Sharks in the 10th minute but his strike went wide.
 
Goalkeeper Ernest Sowah rescued the Rainbow boys from conceding before the quarters of the game with his brilliant save on Sampson Eduku's strike.
 
Coach Seth Hoffman's men gained possession as a powerful header Obeng Kojo Junior from Fatawu Mohammed's cross went over the post in 16th minute.
 
Hearts of Oak continued to pile much pressure on the hosts as Obeng Kojo Junior and Aboubacar Traore tried their lucks but failed to find the back of the net.
 
Tanko Mohammed was denied again by Ernest Sowah as the first half of the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
 
Back from the break, the Phobians continued dominating the game as they grabbed the opener in the 53rd minute.
 
Youngster Obeng Kojo Junior registered his first-ever goal for Hearts of Oak to put them ahead after eight minutes from recess.
 
Coach Yaw Acheampong brought on Benjamin Boateng, Obeng Crentsil and Benjamin Arthur to beef up his squad on the half-hour mark.
 
A spot-kick was awarded to the Elmina-based club after Benjamin Tweneboah was fouled in the 18-yard box by goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.
 
Substitute Benjamin Boateng firmly struck the ball into the back of the net in the 70th minute of the game.
 
The two teams could be found guilty for squandering their numerous chances and set-pieces awarded to them in the last twenty minutes of the match.
 
Elmina Sharks were crowned champions of the maiden edition of the Bakatue Cup after winning 4-2 on penalties against Hearts of Oak.
