Kotoko name Richard Manu as Youth Coach

Asante Kotoko has officially appiontef Richard Manu as their Youth Team on a five-year deal on Wednesday.

The Ghanaian-born German, who represented the club between 2007 and 2010, has been a key member of our all-new Youth Team.

Richard Manu was part of the team of coaches who conducted the justify-your-inclusion exercise that marked the birth of the side which was disbanded two years ago.

The German-trained Youth Development Coach has since been with the team conducting training sessions and helping in the grooming of the selected players.

"I am very happy to be formally back home and looking forward to this new era", said Richard Manu. "My target here is to build a crop of talented players capable of picking up positions in the senior team."

"As a club, it is important that we nurture our players, infuse our philosophy in them and guide them to fill up spaces in the senior team. That way, we will cut cost in terms of recruitment and also not sweat getting replacements for players who leave our senior team."

Richard Manu was a centre-back during his playing days and was a part of the 2008 squad that broke our 10-year long Premier League draught.

He also won the President's Cup and the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Cup in 2008.

Since retiring from playing, Richard Manu has been involved as a coach at some lower-tier clubs in Germany. He was a part of third-tier sides DJK Dillingen in Saarbrucken, Borussia Neunkirchen and Lisdorf FC in Saarlouis, Germany.
