Kwesi Appiah: I deserve Black Stars call-up

The English-born Ghanaian forward has revealed that he deserves earning a call-up to feature for the senior national team of Ghana after a four-year absence.

AFC Wimbledon striker Kwesi Appiah believes his impressive performance at his club earned him the invitation to represent Ghana in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya.

The 28-year-old was included in the 24-man squad to face the Hamrabee stars of Kenya released by head coach Kwesi Appiah on Monday morning.

“I deserve this opportunity. They [Ghanaians] should expect to see hunger and passion to do well for the team and country,” Appiah told AshesGyamera.com

“This is a great opportunity Which I have been working towards for some time now. So I will show my worth to the team and hopefully build towards another Afcon tournament.”

“My injuries are healed and I am training. I’m currently fit for the task ahead,” he said.

Appiah was part of the Black Stars squad that won silver medal at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations held in Gabon.
