EXCLUSIVE: Mainz 05 recall 'Live wire' Issah Abass for Bundesliga in January

The talented attacker will be returning to the Opel Arena outfit in January next year, Kickgh.com can exclusively report.

German Bundesliga side Mainz 05 have recalled their forward Issah Abass for a return to the club.

The German club have decided to cut the season-long loan deal of the Ghana U23 star short to aid them in the second round of their 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign.

The 21-year-old was farmed out to Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht on a season-long loan deal last summer.

He has netted twice in his 11 appearances for FC Utrecht since joining them in July.

Abass has contract with German club Mainz 05 until summer 2023.

Following his sterling output in the Slovenian top-flight league with NK Olimpija Ljubljana where he scored 17 goals in 54 matches, he was signed by German Bundesliga club Mainz 05 on a five-year deal in 2018.

He was chased by several clubs in Europe including Anderlecht, West Ham United, Atlanta Calcio, Southampton but German side Mainz 05 won the race with a transfer fee of two million euros.

Abass is currently with the Ghana U23 at the ongoing Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Egypt
