De Zerbi: 'Alfred Duncan wanted to leave'

US Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi says Alfred Duncan “wanted to be sold” after the midfielder completed a €15m move to Fiorentina.

Duncan made a transfer deadline day switch to Fiorentina after four years at Sassuolo.

“Duncan wanted to go, those who work here every day can be satisfied because if there had never been any requests for Duncan before, and now he is sold, it means good work has taken place, “said De Zerbi in his press conference.

“Duncan’s transfer is an important capital gain for the club. It means he has improved as a player.”

The Ghana international scored one goal with five assists in his 13 game outings for US Sassuolo this season.

He has capped eight times for the senior national team of Ghana

Duncan grew up in the youth sector of Inter Milan and subsequently wore the shirts of Livorno, Sampdoria and Sassuolo.
