MATCH REPORT: Black Starlets hold Niger in their WAFU U17 Group A opener

The male national U17 team managed to share spoils with the host nation in their 2017 WAFU B U17 Championship opener on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Black Starlets of Ghana held on Niger to a 0-0 draw in their Group A fixture at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché.
 
Coach Karim Zito and his charges began the match on a good note but failed to registered a goal before recess.
 
Ghana could have ended the first department of the match in a victory but a late spot-kick awarded to them was squandered.
 
Wa All Stars young midfielder Simon Appiah Asamoah failed to hit the back of the net for the Ghana U17 team after wasting the penalty-kick awarded to them on the 43rd minute.
 
After the break, Ghana continued to distribute brilliant passes with descent crosses but they couldn't utilize their chances as well as the hosts.
 
Goalkeeper David Cudjoe made some brilliant saves to rescue the Ghana U17 side from conceding in their first match.
 
Substitute Oumar Cherif tormented the back line of Ghana with the few minutes he spent on the turf as his late audacious strike went wide.
 
Ghana will play their second Group A match against Togolese U17 team on Saturday.
