MATCH REPORT: Ghana 2-1 Togo - Black Starlets register win to reach semis of WAFU U17 Championship

The Black Starlets of Ghana have booked themselves a place in the semis of the 2018 WAFU B U17 Championship following their victory over Togo on Saturday evening.
 
Ghana recorded a 2-1 win over the Togolese U17 in their last Group A game at the Général Seyni Kountché Stadium in Niamey, Niger.
 
The male national team dominated the first half of the match with several goal scoring opportunities but managed to score only one before the break.
 
Cheetah FC striker Christian Agyenim Boateng got the opener for the Black Starlets with a brilliant finish on the 42nd minute of the game.
 
Two minutes later, Dermane Karim snatched the equaliser for the Togolese with a stunning strike which ended the first department in a one-all draw.
 
After the recess, Coach Abdul Karim Zito and his charges continued mounting pressure on the Togolese.
 
Ghana grabbed the second goal after a spot-kick was awarded to them after Taufiq Shaibu was fouled in the 18-yard box.
 
Wa All Stars youngster Simon Appiah struck the ball firmly into the back of the net to hand the Ghana U17 team all the needed point to finish as Group A winners.
 
The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic qualification to the 2019 Africa Youth Championship which will be held in Tanzania.
