MATCH REPORT: Black Meteors qualify despite Togo defeat

The male national U23 team have progressed to the next round of the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifiers despite a defeat to Togo.

Black Meteors of Ghana are through to the next round on a 5-2 aggregate after a 1-0 away loss to the Young Hawks of Togo.

A lone goal in the first half from Anika Koussi Dossard wasn't enough to end Coach Ibrahim Tanko's charges dream to the maiden edition of the next year's tourney.

Ghana recorded a 5-1 victory over the Togolese U23 team in the first league tie staged in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Skipper Isaac Twum, Evans Mensah, Michael Ampadu were left on bench as newcomers Majeed Ashimeru, Kingsley Fobi and Simon Zibo got the nod to start the match for the Meteors.

Ghana will now face Gabon in the last hurdle of the qualification next year.
