G-8 Preview: Asante Kotoko vs Hearts of Oak - Driven by time to salvage some omen for one of the side

Let us assume to say it is becoming boring a fixture of recent late as we've seen lots of them pouring down in the local game, be it a friendly or a competitive one.
Regardless, the significance of this tie will not die out as it remains the biggest encounter in the local game.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak squad it off once more in a repeat of last year's semi final fixture of the GHALCA G-6 tournament which ended with the "Phobia" side winning on penalty shoot outs but got beaten by Aduana Stars in the final game in Kumasi.
This year's tournament, now G-8, follows the same trend as that of last year where the book markers touted the "Porcupine Warriors" as the favourite to win the tie and it goes the same way this year after Kotoko exhibited some delightful display in their last group stage game against Aduana Stars winning by 2-0.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko have started picking up their pieces together to propel them into their Africa campaign, and will test their prowess again this afternoon against sword-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak on how ready they are for the upcoming football season.
As it is always known, Kotoko and Hearts games do not matter and concern who has the form and playing well but who is well prepared and determined to get the bragging right.
This encounter fell in tick and quick for both sides after qualifying to the semi finals but that will have a minor effect on what the two sides can do to win this game.
Both teams are coming in this game with two wins each in the GHALCA G-8 thus far, and are visibly almost at par in strength from this tournament but it always takes a different dimension playing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which has been a topsy-turvy grounds for both side of late.
Much can't be said in this game for both side as they are thoroughly enjoying their pre-season campaign and much wouldn't be deduced from the result of this encounter just like it happened last year.
Nonetheless, the result will ensure one team book a place in the final game on Sunday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium and all seriousness will be attached to this game.
As to who wants it the most remains to be extracted this afternoon at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak.
