2019 AFCON Qualifiers: South African referee who rejected $30,000 bribe to officiate Ghana-Ethiopia clash

South African referee Victor Miguel de Freitas Gomes has been appointed to handle the second league tie between Ethiopia and Ghana in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
The Senior national team of Ethiopia will host Ghana in the fifth round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group F qualifiers on November 18.
The 35-year-old will be assisted on the lines by his countrymen Zakhele Siwela and Johannes Moshidi whiles Victor Hlungwani will be acting as the fourth referee.
In April 2018, Referee Victor Gomes was approached to fix the result of the African Confederation Cup first leg tie between Nigerian side Plateau United and USM Alger of Algeria but rebuffed those advances and has reported the matter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Ghana posted a 5-0 home victory over the Ethiopians in the first league tie staged in Kumasi - at the Baba Yara Sports - last year.
Kenya lies on top of Group F with seven points with Ethiopia pegging second with four points and Ghana has accumulated three points to sit third on the log after playing two games.
