Leeds United, a team competing in the Championship, has officially expressed interest in acquiring the talents of winger Joseph Paintsil as the summer transfer window draws to a close.

According to a report from The Athletic, Leeds has put forward a formal offer of €10 million to KRC Genk, with the aim of enticing the Ghanaian footballer to transition from the Belgian Pro League to the English Championship.

Leeds views Paintsil as a highly promising addition to their roster, especially as they strive for a comeback to the Premier League by the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Paintsil exhibited a remarkable performance for Genk during the previous season, boasting an impressive record of 18 goals and 14 assists across 39 matches spanning various competitions.

The right-winger, who initially joined Genk in July 2018 from Ghanaian club Tema Youth FC, has notably contributed 32 goals and 25 assists over 143 appearances since his arrival. Additionally, he spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Turkish side MKE Ankaragucu, where he managed to score 11 goals in 33 matches.

Recognizing his outstanding abilities, Paintsil was even nominated for the 2023 Ebony Shoe award. This prestigious accolade is bestowed annually to honor the finest African or African-origin player in the Belgian Pro League at the culmination of each season.

As of now, Genk has not yet provided a response to Leeds' proposition, which encompasses a sell-on clause as part of the offer.
