Kotoko confirms an offer to play Barcelona next year

The Ghana Premier League side are likely to face Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona in a club friendly in 2019.
The newly-appointed communications director of Asante Kotoko, Lawyer Sarfo Duku has confirmed that his outfit has received an offer to play Barcelona next year.
According to him, an agency submitted a proposal to the Kumasi-based club making an arrangement to bring down the five-times UEFA Champions League winners to mark the club's patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu's 20th Anniversary.
"The news about this proposal is very scanty as of now but we want to due diligence about the company especially on their proposal to invest in our Adako Jachie project, their track record and others" Sarfo Duku told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM
"The agency have contacted us, if we will be available to play such a match to honour His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in 2019"
"We replied them that we are ready to host them [Barcelona] in Kumasi and an assurance has been given them."
"We will update our fans and the media about the talks between the agency and us. For now it's at the initial stage and nothing concrete has been reached."
In 2016, Asante Kotoko hosted Serbian top-flight club Jagodina FK at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in a friendly.
