We showed too much respect to the Black stars - Kotoko coach C.K Akonnor

Asante Kotoko coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has reiterated that his side showed too much respect to the Black stars after they were sinked by 3-0 in Kumasi on Friday evening.
The Black stars walloped the Porcupine Warriors by 3-0 in a friendly encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi yesterday.
C.K Akonnor has witnessed his first loss for the Kumasi-based club after he was appointed fortnight ago.
Despite the defeat, the ex- Ashanti Gold gaffer was much impressed with his charges performance last night.
However, C.K Akonnor attributed the defeat to lack of confidence and jittering on the part of his players especially in the first department of the game.
He added that his players showed too much respect for the Black stars.
"If you sign for a club like Kotoko, you wouldn't expect your first game from such opponent. But it was a good game for us. I've learned from it. This game has open my Eye on some of the players. We were very happy," C.K Akonnor said during the post-match conference.
"The first half wasn't the best but we did well in the second half. Probably we showed too much respect. We were a little bit jittery when we've possession. But in the second half, we came with a bit confidence. We conceded two very quick goals which also affected us. We would've accepted a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline but 3-0? he quizzed.
"The Black stars were strong side and very experience. They know what to do at every particular time," he ended.
The match was scheduled after the Black stars 2019 AFCON double-header against Sierra Leone was cancelled by Caf following FIFA ban on the SLFA.
