MATCH REPORT: Ghana 0-2 Senegal - High flying Senegal beat Black Satellites to reach semis of the AFCON U20

The Senegal U20 team have booked themselves a ticket to the semifinal of the ongoing Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Niger following their victory over Ghana on Wednesday evening.

Ghana suffered a painful 2-0 defeat to their West African counterparts in their second group B fixture at the Stade de Maradi.

The young tarenga lions of Senegal dominated the first half as they ensured to end it in a convincing 2-0 victory.

On the 10th minute, Youssouph Badji opened the score with a powerful header which goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen failed to fist it out from his net.

The Senegalese continued to mount pressure on Coach Jimmy Cobblah's charges as they were searching for the second goal before the break.

FC Nordjaelland youngster Kudus Mohammed tried his luck with two long range shots but he couldn't level the score before the half hour mark.

Goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen denied goalscorer Badji on two occasions in the mid of the game with brilliant saves which earned him applauds from the fans.

Youngster Youssouph Badji extended their lead to 2-0 with another fine strike on the stroke of half time.

After the recess, the Senegalese continued to outplay the one-time FIFA U20 World Cup champions with intense pressure at their back line.

Coach Cobblah introduced Sadiq Ibrahim to replace Emmanuel Toku as WAFA captain Prosper Ahiabu substituted Emmanuel Kumah.

Both teams could be found guilty for squandering most of the chances created and the set-pieces awarded to them in the second half.

Senegal have claimed the top spot of Group B following their 2-0 win over Ghana this evening.

Earlier today, Mali managed to beat Burkina Faso 1-0 to keep their qualification hopes to the semifinal alive.

Ghana will battle out with the Mali U20 team in their last match whilst Burkina Faso will face Senegal.
