Hearts of Oak coach Kim Grant explains why he benched goalkeeper Richmond Ayi

Hearts of Oak gaffer Kim Grant has explained why he benched his first choice goalkeeper Richmond Ayi after losing 5-4 on penalties to Asante Kotoko in the semi-final of the Normalisation Committee Tier 1 Special Cup.

The Phobians lost 5-4 on penalties to the Porcupine Warriors after Christopher Bonney and Abdul Fatawu Safiu had scored for their respective clubs after the 90 minutes.
Grant has come under immense pressure after he benched his first choice goalkeeper Richmond Ayi, who was replaced by Benjamin Mensah.
In an exclusive interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM,  Kim Grant explained why he dropped Richmond Ayi, he said "Benjamin Mensah is very experience goalkeeper and he has played such games before."
"Ayi (Richmond) took it very well. I don't have issues with him. He's a fantastic goalkeeper. He has many years ahead of him. Possibly, may be if we had played in the final, he would have been in the goal post."
"It was a decision I made. I thought Ben did very well. He didn't make any mistake about the goal. And unfortunately Kotoko took great five penalties," he ended.
