BREAKING: Ghana U23 defender Gideon Mensah joining FC Barcelona

The Spanish La Liga giants have expressed interest in signing the Black Meteors of Ghana left-back this summer, has learnt.

Ghana youth defender Gideon Mensah is on the verge of joining Spanish La Liga Santander club FC Barcelona in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old has emerged on the radar of the Catalonia-based club following his sterling performance in the Austrian Bundesliga with Red Bull Salzburg.
According Spanish tabloid SPORT.ES, The Barcelona 'B' are currently on the transfer market looking for a left-back and have opted to sign the former WAFA defender to beef up their squad for the season.
Barcelona are in advanced talks with Red Bull Salzburg over a season-long loan move for the Ghana U23 left-back with an option to buy.
He joined Austrian Bundesliga heavyweights in 2016 from Ghana Premier League side West African Football Academy (WAFA SC).
The budding talented defender extended his contract with Red Bull Salzburg until summer 2024 after returning from a loan spell at Strum Graz.
He will become the second Ghanaian footballer to play for FC Barcelona after Kevin-Prince Boateng who joined them on a short loan deal last season.
Mensah is currently a key member of the Ghana U23.
