Kurt Okraku: Kwesi Appiah's exit was GFA EXCO decision not mine

The President of the Ghana Football Association has squashed reports in the media suggesting that he used his position to reject a contract renewal with the 60-year-old trainer.

Ghana Football Association capo, Kurt E.S Okraku has revealed that Kwesi Appiah's exit as Black Stars coach was a unanimous decision from the Executive Council of the country's football governing body.

The departure of 60-year-old was said to have been a revenge from Kurt Okraku after the former Ghana international declined a call-up to some players who previously featured for Dreams FC such as Benjamin Tetteh, Leonard Owusu, Eugene Ansah and Jordan Ayew for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

“It will be most unfortunate because it could sound like a disrespect to all the twelve members on the Executive Council and other stakeholders who were engaged before that singular decision was taken “he told Sports Check host Daniel Oduro.

“We all know that we woefully didn’t perform at the AFCON, we all know the happenings from the Brazil 2014 World cup, we all know all the things that has happened before.

“So when the council put the motion into vote, it was twelve out of twelve a big “No.

“It was not about the president of the FA not wanting somebody,” Kurt Okraku concluded.
