Government is committed to football development - Akuffo Addo

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo has assured football lovers that his government has not abandoned the development of football in the country.
On August 4, 2014, government commissioned a three-man Committee, chaired by Justice Senyo Dzamefe, following the negative fallout from the Black Star campaign in the 2014 Brazil World Cup competition.
The President astonishingly revealed to the public that "to be honest we have forgotten the 2014 World Cup White paper" when he met the press at the Flagstaff House in January.
"Government remains committed to the development of football in the country.", he said during his second State of the Nation Address on Thursday February 8, 2018.
Article 67 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution requires that: “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before the dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation."
He said government has taken into consideration of constructing football pitches in the country which will assist in producing talents for the country.
"We are constructing a number of football pitches in the Zongos and across the rest of the country, to aid in the revival of colts football, which has been responsible for the production of talents like Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah".
The National edifice, Accra Sports Stadium happens to be a death trap following the recent dilapidating nature of the national stadium.
H.E Nana Addo Dunkwa Akuffo-Addo added that the Sports Ministry and the Ghana FA are in collaboration for the maintanance of the stadium to avoid calamity in the future.
"We have begun the rehabilitation of the Accra Sports Stadium, aka Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, and in partnership with the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry and the Ghana Football Association."
