NC Special Cup Report: Asante Kotoko 2-0 Medeama- Scary But The Porcupine Warriors Snipped It Late

Asante Kotoko got a 2-0 victory over Medeama SC in the penultimate game of the Normalization Committee Special Competition at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Talismanic figure Songne Yacouba and top scorer Abdul Fatawu Safiu got the goals for Asante Kotoko in the second half.
The first half saw far and few chances made by both sides which led to a barren 45 minutes but gave out an electrifying second half from both sides.
Songne Yacouba opened the scoring for Asante Kotoko on the 49th minutes after latching onto an inswinger from Abdul Fatawu Safiu to negate the sides sluggish display in the first half to give life to the game in Kumasi.
Medeama SC started to attack more after conceding and had a penalty appealed ruled off on the 54th minutes whiles Felix Annan denied the Yellow and Mauves an equalizer on the 56th minute.
Medeama SC kept attacking and had a ball cleared off the line after Felix Annan was caught off his line from a lobbed ball on the 64th minute.
C. K. Akonnor brought on Stephen Nyarko and Kwame Bonsu to give Asante Kotoko impetus and more purpose upfront but that didn't deter Medeama from pushing for the equalizer.
Kwame Boateng went one-on-one with Felix Annan but his shot whisked off wide the post to keep Asante Kotoko's led intact on the 77th minute.
Abdul Fatawu Safiu nailed the result with a beautiful exchange of passes with Songne Yacouba before placing the ball neatly at the center of the post to led 2-0 in the dying embers of the game.
The 2-0 victory catapults Asante Kotoko to the summit of the league table with 21 points and will have to wait for their last game against Aduana Stars at Dormaa to determine their qualification to the next stage of the competition.
Medeama SC drop to the second place with 19 points and waits for Chelsea in their last game to determine their qualification into the next stage of the competition.
