EXCLUSIVE: Kotoko coach Zachariassen in trouble for fielding 'Unregistered' Samed Ibrahim against Ashgold

The Norwegian gaffer faced the management of the Kumasi-based club after losing the BK Edusei Memorial Cup to Ashanti Gold SC on Sunday.

Management of Asante Kotoko headed by Dr. Kwame Kyei questioned Coach Kjetil Zachariassen for fielding Samed Ibrahim in their preparatory clash ahead of their CAF Champions League match.

According to the club management, Coach Zachariassen refutes their orders not to field the 27-year-old who hasn't been registered for their CAF Champions League campaign.

Defender Samed Ibrahim has reportedly joined Asante Kotoko on a free transfer with a fee around Gh¢ 90,000 for a two-year deal.

"The management of club held a meeting with the coach [Kjetil Zachariassen] to explain why he fielded Samed Ibrahim instead of the registered centre-backs," a close source told Kickgh.com

"Management wasn't happy with his decision because they earlier told him not to feature Ibrahim against Ashanti Gold in the BK Edusei Memorial Cup but he refutes their decision"

Coach Kjetil Zachariassen left three of their registered centre-backs namely Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Stephen Ayiku Tettej and Wahab Adams and handed a starting role to the former Ashanti Gold guardsman.

Asante Kotoko are currently preparing ahead of their CAF Champions League game with Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel on September 15 at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
