'Deteriorated' Baba Yara Sports Stadium to be CLOSED DOWN

The multi-purpose Stadium in Kumasi is set to be shutdown for a major facelift, Kickgh.com can confirm.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium will be undergoing a major refurbishment for the first time after eleven years.

Kickgh.com can exclusively report that the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture will announced the closure of the edifice after Asante Kotoko's campaign in the 2019/20 CAF inter-club competitions.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium hasn't been renovated since 2008 when it hosted the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Stadium has hosted two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments — 2000 and 2008 — and FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

It is the home venue of one of Ghana's biggest football club, Asante Kotoko.

Asante Kotoko are currently participating in the 2019/20 CAF Champions League and they will battle out with Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel in the preliminary round.
