I'm the best Ghanaian striker in the last two decades not even Asamoah Gyan - Ex-Kotoko star Kwadwo Poku brags

The former Ghana youth star claims he is the best striker in the history of the West African country in the last two decades.

Ex-Asante Kotoko and King Faisal forward Kwadwo Poku says he remains the best striker the country has produced since 2000 despite playing few matches for the senior national team of Ghana.

Poku affectionately called 'Mahala' was one of the talented attacker in the early 2000s following his enormous qualities.

"During my era, I played alongside Osei Kuffour, Ibrahim Tanko and Isaac Boakye. I was a complete package of a forward not a 'standing fan striker' because I was able to dribble, pass, shoot and was tricky as well. The only thing I lacked was my aerial ability,'' Poku told Silver FM.

His explosive performance in the local scene earned him a call-up to the Ghana U23 team, he played an instrument role in Ghana's qualification to the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

His goals helped Asante Kotoko to reach the final of the defunct CAF Cup Winners Cup but lost to Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

According to the 34-year-old, he is better than the reigning top scorer of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan.

"I was deputised by Shaibu Yakubu during my reign. Asamoah Gyan was the third striker by then. I am the best striker for the past twenty years, I am yet to see one who can be compared to me" he added.

"Most players earn call up to the Black Stars because of luck. I think I wasn't lucky."

Poku was voted Africa's best Under-23 player after helping Ghana to win bronze at the 2003 All Africa Games in Abuja.

The Kumasi-born featured for several clubs including FC Midtjylland, Skive IK and Tjorring IF all in Sweden

Poku capped only nine times for the senior national team of Ghana
