The relegated Bundesliga outfit are still having the 22-year-old forward on their wanted list of transfer targets despite his uninspiring two-year loan stint with them in the German top-flight contest

Fortuna Dusseldorf CEO Uwe Klein has said "it would be a weapon" for his side to have Ghana and Schalke 04 striker Bernard Tekpetey in the Bundesliga 2 campaign.

The former SC Paderborn 07 attacker failed to live up to  expectations with the Dusseldorf-based club having featured in 9 games with zero goal in the just ended League season.

Despite his uninspiring outing last term, Fortuna Dusseldorf are still interested in his services as they prepare for life in the upcoming lower-tier division league contest following their demotion.

Uwe Klein said of the Accra-born forward when asked of his  interest over another spell with his outfit for the Bundesliga 2 campaign.

"does Düsseldorf want to start rebuilding with Tekpetey after the relegation? It could be a weapon," Klein said to Kicker.

Bernard still has an existing contract with Schalke O4 until 2021.

His market value is pegged at 1.6 million Euros per transfermarket.

He has capped two times for Ghana at the senior national team.
