We approached Man City with no fear - Jeffrey Schlupp

Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp revealed that his side had spent the week preparing for the visit to Manchester City by approaching the game without any fear.

The Eagles scored three times to stun the reigning Premier League champions and come away with a 3-2 victory, with Schlupp finding the back of the net with an excellent equaliser which spurred Palace on to earn a memorable three points.

“It was a special performance,” he told Crystal Palace TV.

“To come to a club like Manchester City is never easy and I feel we fully deserved the three points. “All week we have been talking about having no fear and come into this one off the back of a good result last week and we wanted to take plenty of the positives from [the win over Leicester] into this one and the main thing was not to have any fear.

"You have seen some teams come here and almost play to lose and we never do that because we go into every game trying to win and we managed to do that today.”

Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp celebrates scoring his side’s first goal of the game during the Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester.

“It was a wonderful goal and a special moment, I was shouting for him to shoot because if they get it on the edge of their box they can break well because they are so good on the counter attack but he had no doubt in his head and got it on target and scored a wonderful goal.

“It means a lot confidence wise, we have not been playing that badly but have maybe not had the luck in previous games and it is always nice to get a few goals as well as we have not managed to score as many goals as we would have liked but when we have players going forward and playing with confidence you can see what we can do,.

“We took positives from recent performances into this one and we are all delighted to get three points.”
