Ghanaian youngster Jeremie Frimpong reveals why he left Manchester City

The Dutch-born of Ghanaian descent has opened up his reason to leave the English Premier League club.

Ghanaian youngster Jeremie Frimpong says he joined Celtic in the last summer transfer window from Manchester City for a start in a first team.

After making his professional debut in a 5-0 win the 18-year-old full-back revealed why he decided to make a summer switch from Manchester City to Celtic – and it was all about stacking the odds in his favour.

A combination of impatience and unshakable confidence fuelled his claim that he’s more than ready for regular starts in the Celtic first team.

Since taking his leave from Pep Guardiola and the Etihad, Frimpong has plotted a new career path after receiving his first standing ovation in Paradise.

“Everyone at City helped me. In terms of right-backs, I would speak to Kyle Walker and then when Cancelo came I would speak to him. They would give me some tips and stuff," Frimpong said as quoted by Daily Record

“I had been there since I was young. You want to try to get into the team but they obviously have Kyle and have just bought a new right-back.

“I thought I was ready for first team so Celtic came and I took the chance because I thought I would have a better chance at Celtic than Manchester City.”

He said: “I knew Celtic were the best team in Scotland so I thought, ‘Yes, I’m going to the best team. When we play teams Celtic always win, so I’ll be on the winning team.’

“It’s amazing. There’s no real difference, it’s like Manchester, it’s just the weather! I went to the city centre and it’s amazing, I’m happy to be in Glasgow.”
