Crystal Palace release Ghanaian defender Jacob Mensah after one year

The English Premier League side have confirmed the departure of the young centre-back after one year, can exclusively confirm.
English-born Ghanaian defender Jacob Mensah has been released by Crystal Palace after the 2019/20 season.
The 19-year-old's contract was abrogated by the Eagles after failing to live up to expectation in his debut season at the club's U23 team.
Mensah made only 17 appearances for Crystal Palace U23 team during their 2018/19 and 2019/20 season campaign.
He joined Crystal Palace from Non-league side Ramsgate FC in March 2019 after helping them to clinch Kent Cup.
Mensah was described as having a playing style of former Manchester United star Chris Smalling prior to his signing at Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace beat off competition from Brighton and Hove Albion, Wolverhampton and Cardiff City to sign the 19-year-old defender.
Mensah is still eligible to represent either Ghana or England in future.
