Black Queens Coach Mercy Tagoe names 18 players for Gabon game; check the list

Black Queens of Ghana head coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo has announced her 18-man squad ahead of their Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games double-header against Gabon.

The female senior national team will leave the shores of Ghana to Libreville today to square off against counterparts Gabon on Wednesday.
 
Notable amongst the Squad is foreign based Portia Boakye who was absent during the WAFU campaign. Portia scored the bicycle kick for the queens to win 1-0 over Congo Brazzaville in the final at the stade de Alfonso de Massemba where Ghana emerged victorious.
 
Debutant Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah who happens to be Ampem Darkoaa ladies’ young forward made a surprise entrance into the squad whilst Police Ladies Philicity Asuako and Sea Lion’s Elizabeth Owusuwaa made a quick return to the Squad.
 
The squad also have a oung and Agile goalkeeper, Abigail Tawiah of Elmina Sea Lions who will deputise the country’s number one shot stopper, Fafali Dumehasi.
 
Ghana will play Gabon on Wednesday, 28th August, 2019 whilst the return leg will be played between 30th August to 3rd September, 2019.
