PREVIEW: WAFA vs Asante Kotoko - Kotoko vow not to be disgraced by academy boys tomorrow

Asante Kotoko start the 2017/18 league season with a trek to an unfriendly ground at Sogakope where they battle with the academy boys of West African Football Academy  (WAFA) in what is believed to be a bathe of league success after another disappointment in Africa who have not won against the homesters in any league outing away from home at the Red Bulls Arena.
Indeed, it has been a totally different establishment at Kotoko since the arrival of Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabien as the head coach of the club with the club becoming an impressive goal scoring haul in their three friendlies played thus far.
This assuring performance from Kotoko under Paa Kwesi Fabien send them in this game with a strong mettle to rattle and wear down every blade of grass at the Astro-turf pitch in Sogakope by doing better than their previous visit against the academy boys.
Both clubs have done enough to prepare themselves into this game particularly Kotoko who have put in extra efforts not to be run and dragged in the face at a venue where WAFA have not lost in their last forty-two encounters.
After the exit of prime figures in the playing of WAFA in Majeed Ashimeru, Gideon Waja, Emmanuel Boateng, Richmond Nii Lamptey, Caleb Amankwah, they still look a formidable side to wrestle the strength out of Kotoko who have also made additions to reinvigorate the side since the departure of Awal Mohammed and Ahmed Adams.
Klavs Rasmussen has lost his right hand man, Akakpo Patron to Asante Kotoko who is assisting Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabien to lead their charges to leave a good note at Sogakope, different from previous seasons where they have displayed abysmal performance resulting in embarrassing defeats.
A league opener like this encounter will always expose clubs to opening up play and getting a precious results, regardless of the venue, to set the pace of hopes to doing well in a marathon league season and with both sides, being attacking minded teams, should give a mammoth display of top class football.
