The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has applauded Morocco’s successful bid to co-host the 230 FIFA World Cup.
In a statement which was released by CAF to celebrate this milestone, Dr. Motsepe highlighted the unity and inspiration that the Morocco, Portugal, and Spain partnership brings to both Africa and Europe.
This collaboration marks a momentous occasion, as Morocco becomes the only second African nation to host the prestigious tournament, following South Africa in 2010.
Dr. Motsepe expressed deepest thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, acknowledging the leadership and support of the Moroccan government and its people in initiating the historic bid. He also commended Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football, for his exemplary leadership throughout the process.
“This is a proud day for African football,” Dr. Motsepe remarked. “The partnership between Morocco, Portugal, and Spain is a testament to the power of football to unite continents and inspire a brighter future for all.”
The announcement also underscored the collaborative effort of the 54 CAF member associations, whose unity played a crucial role in securing the bid. Dr. Motsepe extended his appreciation to FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the 211 FIFA Member Associations for their visionary decision to award the co-hosting rights to this remarkable trio.
