Ghanaian champions Medeama SC exhibited a five star performance to humble Guinean fold Horoya AC by a resounding 3-1 in the first leg of the final qualifying round of the CAF Champions League in Cape Coast.

Both teams started very well, having positioned themselves very cautiously and keeping the ball more often without any dangerous goal attempts.

The visitors stayed a bit deep in their zone with the aim of avoiding an early goal but were really aggressive at some point as Ibrahim Aminata went into the books of the referee after a reckless tackle.

The hosts looked very calm on the ball and were the dominant side in terms of everything in the game, especially in the opening minutes.

The constant pressure from Medeama SC earned them a free kick on the 33rd minute but Fatawu Hamidu's delivery went wide for a goal-kick.

In the second half, just three minutes on, Jonathan Sowah was put through in a glorious one on one situation but fired wide. What a miss that was.

Just few moments later, substitute Nana Kofi Babil scored with a fantastic strike to put the home team in front. Just what they have been fighting for.

On the 65th minute, Nurudeen Abdulai jumped high over everyone to score with a towering header from a corner kick to double Medeama's lead.

Just four minutes later, Kofi Asmah made it 3-0 for the home side with a beautiful screamer. What a goal it was!

Horoya AC pulled one back through Lamine Fofana with just a minute to full time to make it 3-1 and that's how the game finished.

The second leg is scheduled for September 30, 2023 in Conakry.
