DR Congo find themselves in the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations without winning a game in regulation time in Ivory Coast, as they will slug-it-out with Guinea tonight (Friday) at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.

The Leopards kicked out seven-time winners Egypt in the round of 16, while the Syli National of Guinea ended a losing run in the tournament’s first knockout by beating Equatorial Guinea.

DRC goalkeeper Lionel M'Pasi was the hero for Sebastien Desabre's men, converting from the spot after Pharaohs shot-stopper Mohamed Abou Gabal hit the woodwork in the sudden-death rounds, and the goalie took advantage by dispatching him with ease.

On the other hand, Guinea, the last-gasp Mohamed Bayo header ended Syli National's extended run without a knockout stage win in their history at the AFCON.

The victory came following Federico Bikoro's 55th-minute dismissal for the Equatoguineans and Emilio Nsue's missed penalty, preventing extra time for Kaba Diawara's troops.
