Angola have advanced to the quarter final for the first time since 2010 after humbling Namibia by 3-0 at the Stade de la Paix in the first round of 16 game of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The game started somehow aggressively and wasn't the best of start for Angola who were reduced to ten in just seventeen minutes from kickoff following Adilson Neblu's send-off.
The Black Antelopes despite being down by a man, didn't look affected by the in anyway and continued to dominate the game which eventually got them the opener on the 38th minute through Gelson Dala.
Two minutes after going down, Namibia also suffered a numerical disadvantage following Lubeni Haukongo's send off after receiving a second yellow in the game.
Four minutes later, another Fredy - Delson Dala combination resulted into their second after the latter scored with a brave header from the former's good free kick delivery to lead 2-0 at half time.
In the second half, the two sides returned looking a bit relaxed with no any dangerous incursions in the early stages.
However, the Palancas Negras once again found the back of the net through Mabululu to triple their lead on the 66th minute.
The Brave Warriors with a response two minutes later as Peter Shalulile breaks explosively from the flanks but his strike was way off target.
It finished 3-0 after full time. Angola will now face the winner of Nigeria and Cameroon- in a game that is scheduled for Friday, February 2, 2024.
