“I don’t want to place the blame solely on the pitch" - Otto Addo Calls for Improvement After Ghana’s 1-0 Defeat to Angola in AFCON Qualifiers**

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has urged his team to improve following their disappointing 1-0 loss to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana struggled to find their rhythm, particularly in the first half, with the poor condition of the Baba Yara pitch hampering their performance.

Despite creating several chances, the Black Stars failed to capitalize, ultimately succumbing to a late goal by Angola’s Felicio Joao Milson, who pounced on a poor clearance to hand Ghana a stunning defeat.

“I don’t want to plant this loss on the pitch even though it wasn’t good. Against Central African Republic, it was also not good but we won. We have to do better,” Addo admitted during his post-match press conference.

However, the coach expressed optimism about Ghana’s chances of qualification. “The second half makes me very confident we can qualify. The good thing is that it’s all in our hands because we still have to face all the teams in the group.”

Ghana will now look to bounce back in their next Group F clash against Niger on Monday, September 9, in Morocco, as they aim to revive their AFCON qualifying campaign.
