Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, has once more reaffirmed his stance on the issue of Andre Ayew being omitted from the squad set to clamp-it-down with Angola and Niger.

The German trained gaffer decided not to hand call-up to Andre Ayew, 34, who currently plys his trade for Le Havre, with the forward last playing the national team back in March 2024, when Ghana faced Uganda and Nigeria in an international friendly match.

However, Andre was initially dropped from the Black Stars squad for the June 2024 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Regardless of not dolling out call-ups to the experienced forward, Addo reiterated that Andre could still return to the fold of the national team.

“The doors are never closed. I look at the performance,” he responded when pressed on Andre Ayew, after initially saying he won’t talk about his situation again," he said.

"I had a long chat with Andre and gave him the reason why he is not in the squad.

"I talk to players directly and I don't like to put information out about what we spoke about.

"This is the decision we took and it's not like he necessarily agreed, but I still have a lot of respect for him," Addo concluded.
