Ghana coach Chris Hughton has stressed that the Black Stars played better than Comoros and they didn't deserve the defeat at the OmniSports Stadium in Moroni.
The West African nation succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to the Coelacanths in the Group I match-day two fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday evening.
However, Hughton in a post-match said his side exercise dominance over Comoros in the entire duration of the game.
“Congratulations to Comoros for the victory. In my opinion over the 90 minutes, we were the better team. I thought Ghana we were the better team. We conceded what we regarded as a poor goal to concede and we were not able to capitalise on the chances that we had,” Hughton said.
“So this was not a game where Comoros won this game comfortably. Over the 90 minutes, we were the better team but unfortunately, we were not able to put away the chances that we created,”
Ghana currently occupies third position on the Group I log with 3 points as Comoros and Mali peg at the first and second place whiles Madagascar, Chad and Central African Republic takes the other positions respectively.
