Although money is no pledge of success, African football’s most reputable club competition has become the preserve of the very wealthiest teams.

This has, however, prompted the President of New Edubiase Abdul Salam Yakubu to issue a word of caution to clubs who are strapped for cash to forget about making a meaningful impact in any of Africa's inter-club competition.

Yakubu believes clubs who don't have $3 million and a flowing sustainable source of income will miserably hit the skids in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.

“If a Ghanaian club wants to make an impact in an African competition, you must have at least $3 million," he told Accra-based Angel FM.

“If you don’t have that money in your accounts, forget it,” he added.
