Michel “Lumumba” Kuka Mboladinga, the Congolese fan who captured hearts at AFCON 2025, has been rewarded with a Jeep by the Democratic Republic of Congo government in recognition of his passionate support.

Despite the Leopards 1–0 extra-time exit to Algeria in the Round of 16, Kuka became one of the tournament’s most celebrated men, earning the nickname “Lumumba” due to his striking resemblance to Patrice Emery Lumumba, a father of Congolese independence.

Mboladinga’s calm, motionless presence in the stands during DR Congo’s matches made him an instant sensation across Morocco and beyond.

“I can’t even leave my room when I’m at the hotel because there’s such a buzz outside,” he told journalists. “It’s beyond me. I can’t even walk. Everyone asks me for photos, interviews, videos. Sometimes it makes me feel good, it’s a source of pride for me.”

He added: “It’s a message, it also gives an image of our country, everywhere I go in Morocco. It’s the pride of our country, it’s Congo that wins.”

Even after DR Congo’s defeat in extra time, Mboladinga remained a fan favorite, sharing light-hearted moments with Algeria striker Mohammed Amoura.
