A Senegalese fan tragically died in a car accident on Saturday while traveling to Tangier to support the Lions of Teranga in their AFCON 2025 Round of 16 match against Sudan.
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) confirmed the incident on Sunday evening, following Senegal’s 3–1 victory that secured their place in the quarterfinals.
“The Senegalese Football Federation is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Aïda Faye Samb, a student, following a traffic accident on the Rabat-Kenitra highway,” the FSF said in a statement.
“In these painful circumstances, the FSF extends its sincere condolences to the bereaved family, her loved ones, and the entire Senegalese football family,” the federation added.
The news casts a sombre note over Senegal’s triumph as the team prepares for the next stage of the tournament.
