Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah says he is confident his side has what it takes to progress beyond the group stage at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Appiah, his players are mentally and physically ready for the challenge ahead.

The former Ghana boss has overseen a steady rise in performance and belief since taking charge of the Falcons of Jediane.

Speaking to CAFOnline ahead of Sudan’s opening Group B fixture against Algeria today (December 24) at the Stade Moulay Hassan, Appiah said his team is determined to make a strong impression on the continental stage.

“Sudan is well prepared for the competition, and we hope to present ourselves in the best possible way during the finals,” he said.

Assessing the strength of their opponents, Appiah admitted the group, which also includes Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso would be tough, but stressed that Sudan are equally capable of facing them squarely.

“We are in a strong group with Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso. Sudan is also a good team, and I am confident that we will progress beyond the group stage in this tournament,” he added.

Sudan entered the tournament on the back of their participation in the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar, which Appiah believes has further sharpened the team’s readiness.
