Tema Youth Owner, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer says Asamoah Gyan should be sent to inspire but not to play at the World Cup.

Asamoah Gyan has made clear his dreams of playing at the World Cup during an interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The 36-year-old has been without a club since leaving Legon Cities after the end of 2020/21 season.

Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in the group stages in Qatar.

Ghana will play Brazil and Nicaragua in a friendly later this month.

The Black Stars are expected to wrap up their pre-World Cup preparations with Switzerland in November.

Osei Kwaku Palmer says he can be sent as a legend to motivate the players but not go play at the World Cup.

“I will tell Gyan to allow us to go and do our business or he should go and inspire because he is a legend and that is what we lack in most of the tournaments.

"I have been to competitions several times (AFCON, World Cup) and what other countries do is, they bring their legends and are given special place because when the going gets tough, they will be there to support because of their experience, but we are not celebrating our legends and that is the whole issue,” he added.
