Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku has expressed his eagerness to represent the Black Stars, stating his readiness to seize the opportunity whenever it arises.

The Black Stars are set to resume their FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March, with coach Otto Addo expected to strengthen the squad, particularly in the attacking department. The team’s struggles in front of goal were a key factor in their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Opoku, who recently returned to Kotoko on a two-and-a-half-year deal following stints in Algeria and Morocco, has been in scintillating form. The prolific striker has scored four goals in just three matches, playing a pivotal role in Kotoko’s climb to third place in the league standings with 31 points.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, the former Nkoranza Warriors star reflected on his ambitions for a return to the national team:

"I believe that during my first time with the Black Stars, I had more to offer, but maybe it wasn’t the right moment. Now, I am focused on improving my game, and if the chance comes to represent the Black Stars, I’ll be ready and willing to give my all for the national team."

With his current form and determination, Opoku could be a valuable addition to the Black Stars’ attacking options as they prepare for their upcoming qualifiers.
