Ghana’s U-17 men national team, the Black Starlets have been in preparations for a while now and will get to know their group and opponents for the upcoming AFCON today.
The stage is set for the group stage draw of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations which will be held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo.
A total of 16 teams will be drawn into four groups of four, setting the path for what promises to be an exciting tournament. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
The draw will also carry added significance, as all eight quarter-finalists will automatically qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Several African stars have been lined up to assist with the draw, including Pyramids FC forward Fiston Mayele, Aliou Dieng of Al Ahly, and Ahmed Belhadji of Ceramica Cleopatra.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 16:00GMT on Wednesday, as teams await their group opponents ahead of the competition.
The Black Starlets have engaged in series of preparatory friendlies to have themselves adequately prepared for the tourney and recently lost 2-1 to Ghanaian topflight side Heart of Lions.
