Bottom of Group A in the CAF Champions League sits Pyramids, despite a hefty investment made during the summer.

Facing off against the underdog Nouadhibou from Mauritania in Cairo, Pyramids struggled, needing a late equalizer from Fiston Mayele to salvage a 2-2 draw.

Anticipation was high for a strong response from Pyramids following their 3-0 defeat against TP Mazembe in Libumbashi the previous week. However, they fell short of expectations.

The first half concluded without any goals, despite Pyramids attempting to score 11 times, with only four shots finding their mark.

It was Bessam Ahmed who finally broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, putting Nouadhibou ahead in the second half. But Pyramids quickly responded, with Fiston Mayele leveling the scores just 10 minutes later.

Issa M’bareck shocked the crowd by reclaiming the lead for Nouadhibou in Cairo, scoring eight minutes from time.

However, in a dramatic turn of events, Fiston Mayele struck again for Pyramids in the 91st minute, ensuring the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Despite their debut campaign in the CAF Champions League, Nouadhibou can hold their heads high, finishing third in the group ahead of Pyramids.

Meanwhile, Pyramids finds themselves in a state of disappointment, especially considering the caliber of their squad and the significant investment made to assemble it.
