Ghanaian champions Medeama SC have been paired with Guinean giants Horoya AC in the next round of the CAF Champions League qualifying round.

The Mauves and Yellows exhibited a scintillating performance to win the tie in the first round against Nigerian side Remo Stars FC in a tough two legged game.

They won 1-0 in the first leg at home two weeks ago, thanks to Jonathan Sowah's first half strike. However, they suffered a similar margin defeat in the return leg in Ikenne but serged on to win 2-3 via penalty shootouts to cruise into the next round.

Evans Adortey's men will now have to go through Horoya AC in the second and final qualifying round in a tie which promises to be much more tougher following the experience of this opposition.

The Reds, having won the Guinean championship on eight consecutive occasions from 2015 to 2022, unfortunately have their dominance ended by three time African conquerors Hafia FC.

Horoya have been playing actively in the Champions League for the past years and derived so much exposure with their best performance being quarter final in 2018.

The first leg of this tie has been slated for September 15, in Cape Coast before the return encounter on September 29, in Conakry.
