Medeama SC will cross swords with Guinean giants Horoya AC at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday afternoon in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.
This is the last hurdle in the qualifiers series and the winner of this tie will book a spot in the money zone- an enough reason for the two sides to head into the game with so much determination.
The Ghanaian champions started off in the first preliminary round against Nigerian fold Remo Stars FC in a very tricky tie which ended 1-1 on aggregate, after two legs but won via penalty shootouts to advance.
Also, the Mauves and Yellows topped up with a 2-1 win over Dreams FC to emerge champions of the 2023 Ghana Super Cup weeks ago in Cape Coast before topping it up with a slim 1-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs in a friendly.
However, Horoya AC didn't play in the first round, and this will be their first in the continent's biggest club football competition this season.
Having failed to make the group stages last season, the Red-Whites will put in maximum efforts this time to surpass that mark this time around.
They arrived in Ghana on the early hours of Saturday and have already had a feel of the match venue- looking desperate for a positive outcome before the return leg.
